Devon Zarek Taylor

Devon Z Taylor was born on June 24, 1983 (on his parent's wedding anniversary) and passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on November 9, 2019. Devon attended Turlock schools and graduated with a 4.5 GPA from Turlock High School. Devon attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where he made the Dean's List and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Science. While he attended Cal Poly, Devon spent so much time in the library that he was eventually employed as a librarian during his final two years. Upon graduation, Devon loved the Central Coast and made it his home.

Devon is survived by his parents Mark & Ginger, brother Joshua, grandmother Franc, and fiancée Katy Goolsby. Other immediate relatives are uncles and aunts David & Carol Zarek, Pat & Craig Guttman, and Steve Taylor & Linda Purdy. His cousins include Clint & May, Curtis & Lanaya, Debbi & Dave, Elizabeth & Kevin and Chris & Melanie. Devon leaves behind numerous friends and extended family.

Devon was outgoing and always friendly to everyone. Once you became a friend of Devon you became a friend for life. To all who knew him, Devon will be remembered for his humor, intellect, devotion, compassion and his zest for life. His life passions included reading, collecting trivia, playing disc golf, relaxing at Lake Tahoe, brewing craft beer, traveling and visiting historical sites, hiking and mastering vintage video games. He especially enjoyed the time he spent camping, shooting and hanging out with his older brother, Joshua

Please join us for a celebration of Devon's life on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at the Carnegie Arts Center in the Gemperle Gallery at 250 N. Broadway, Turlock, CA. There will be a buffet starting at 1pm followed by a time for reflections and sharing.
