It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Dustin Roy McDonough, a beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, and cherished member of the community. Though his time here was far too short, the love and light he brought into the lives of others will never be forgotten.
Dustin was known for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and the way he could make anyone feel welcomed and valued. He had a natural ability to bring laughter wherever he went, always sharing his quick wit and caring personality with everyone around him. He loved deeply and was deeply loved in return.
A proud and dedicated member of his community, Dustin served for 18 years as a volunteer firefighter with the Stevinson Fire Department. He cared deeply about helping others and was always willing to step forward when someone was in need. His dedication, selflessness, and love for his community left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of serving alongside him.
One of Dustin’s greatest passions was collecting old fire trucks, a hobby that reflected both his appreciation for history and his admiration for the fire service. He could often be found enthusiastically sharing his collection with his family, often giving them rides and displaying them for all who shared his interests.
By his side through life’s moments big and small was his loyal German Shepherd, Apollo. Their bond was unbreakable, and Apollo was more than a pet — he was a true companion and best friend.
Dustin is survived by his parents Danny and Valerie McDonough, and his siblings Lee McDonough and Kristy Azevedo (Adam).
Though words cannot fully express the pain of this loss, we take comfort in remembering the kindness, humor, and love that Dustin shared so freely. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, fellow firefighters, and everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
