Filipe Gabriel Ormonde passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California, at the age of 74. He was born in Lajes, Terceira, Açores, and was a longtime resident of Hilmar, California.
Filipe was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather who cherished his family above all else. He and his beloved wife, Maria Manuela Ormonde, shared a lifetime of love and devotion. On his birthday, October 18th, they would have celebrated 51 years of marriage together.
Filipe enjoyed spending time with his family and took great pride in his garden, where he loved watching his vegetables and fruit trees grow. In his free time, he enjoyed barbecuing for family and friends, listening to cantoria from his beloved home island of Terceira, and watching touradas (bullfights), traditions that kept him connected to the culture and homeland he loved.
Filipe is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Manuela Ormonde; his son, Michael Gabriel Ormonde (Jennifer); his daughter, Elizabeth Gomes Ramos (Jorge); his grandsons, Jonathan Ramos and Nathaniel Ormonde; his granddaughters, Jessica Ramos and McKenzie Ormonde; his sisters, Ana Vieira (José), Matilde Lima, Fatima Codorniz, Merces Faria, Maximina Correia (Firmino), and Irene Augusto; and his brothers, Alvaro Ormonde and José Ormonde (Delia).
He was preceded in death by his mother, Angela Ormonde; his father, Filipe Ormonde; and his sister, Lucilia Lemos.
Filipe was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Turlock, a member of Livingston Pentecost Club and S.E.S..
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. .at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service, 286 West Main Street, Turlock, CA 95380.
The Recitation of the Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 10: 00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 2602 S. Walnut Road, Turlock, CA 95380.
Committal Service to follow at North Hilmar Cemetery, 8710 Tegner Road, Hilmar, CA 95324, on September 2, 2026.
May Filipe rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love of his family and the memories he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew him.
Filipe Gabriel Ormonde faleceu em paz no dia 22 de agosto de 2026, no UC Davis Medical Center, em Sacramento, Califórnia, aos 74 anos de idade. Nasceu nas Lajes, ilha Terceira, Açores, e foi residente de longa data em Hilmar, Califórnia.
O Sr. Ormonde foi um marido amoroso, um pai dedicado e um avô orgulhoso, que amava a sua família acima de tudo. Ele e a sua querida esposa, Maria Manuela Ormonde, partilharam uma vida inteira de amor e dedicação. No dia do seu aniversário, 18 de outubro, teriam celebrado 51 anos de casamento.
O Sr. Ormonde gostava muito de passar tempo com a sua família e tinha grande orgulho no seu jardim, onde gostava de ver crescer os seus legumes e as suas árvores de fruto. Nos seus tempos livres, gostava de fazer churrascos para a família e para os amigos, ouvir cantorias da sua querida ilha Terceira e assistir a touradas, tradições que o mantinham ligado à cultura e à terra natal que tanto amava.
O Sr. Ormonde deixa de luto, a sua esposa, Maria Manuela Ormonde; o seu filho, Michael Gabriel Ormonde (Jennifer); a sua filha, Elizabeth Gomes Ramos (Jorge); os seus netos, Jonathan Ramos e Nathaniel Ormonde; as suas netas, Jessica Ramos e McKenzie Ormonde; as suas irmãs, Ana Vieira (José), Matilde Lima, Fatima Codorniz, Merces Faria, Maximina Correia (Firmino) e Irene Augusto; e os seus irmãos, Alvaro Ormonde e José Ormonde (Delia).
Foi precedido na morte pela sua mãe, Angela Ormonde; pelo seu pai, Filipe Ormonde; e pela sua irmã, Lucilia Lemos.
O Sr. Ormonde era paroquiano da Igreja Católica de Nossa Senhora da Assunção, em Turlock, e era membro do Livingston Pentecost Club e da S.E.S.
O velório terá lugar na terça-feira, dia 1 de setembro de 2026, das 5:00 da tarde às 8:00 da noite, na Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service, 286 West Main Street, Turlock, CA 95380.
A recitação do Terço e a Missa de Corpe Presente terão lugar na quarta-feira, dia 2 de setembro de 2026, às 10:00 da manhã, na Igreja Católica de Nossa Senhora da Assunção, 2602 S. Walnut Road, Turlock, CA 95380.
De seguida, será realizado o rito de sepultura no North Hilmar Cemetery, 8710 Tegner Road, Hilmar, CA 95324, no dia 2 de setembro de 2026.
