Mrs. Maria Gloria Freitas, age 81 was born in Santa Cruz da Lagao, São Miguel, Açores on April 8, 1940 to Antonio Melo and Maria dos Anjos Costa Melo. Entered into rest on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 in Redwood City, California.
Mrs. Freitas was a resident of Half Moon Bay for 46 years and worked at Nursery Men's Exchange for 37 years as a supervisor. She was married to the love of her life Antonio Alves Freitas for 47 years, an amazing mother to her daughter Rosemary Freitas Delashaw, and proud Avó to her grandson Christopher Anthony Freitas Delashaw.
Gloria loved being surrounded by her family. She loved cooking, tending to her flowers and plants, and attending Portuguese events. She was a member of Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church in Half Moon Bay, California.
Maria is survived by her husband, Tony A. Freitas her daughter Rosemary F. Delashaw (Scott) of Half Moon Bay and grandson Christopher Anthony Freitas Delashaw.
She was preceded in death by: Her father Antonio Melo; her mother Maria do Anjos Melo, three brothers Guilhermo Melo, Joao Luis Melo, and José Manuel Melo and one sister Fatima Melo.
Maria was a member of Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church in Half Moon Bay, California.
A Recitation of the Rosary for will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church, 400 Church Street, Half Moon Bay, California.
A Funeral Mass will occur at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church, 400 Church Street, Half Moon Bay, California.
A Committal Service will follow at Skylawn Memorial Park, Hwy 92 at Skyline Blvd., San Mateo, California.
Serving as pallbearers are Luis Nunes, Jose Luis Freitas, Tony Nunes, Jose Nunes, João Nunes and Jose Manuel Sousa.
