Idoina Gomes Vaz, age 85, of Hilmar, California passed away at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock, California on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. Idoina was born in Porto Judeu, Açores, Portugal to Candida Souza Diniz and Francisco Castro Gomes.
Idoina is survived by her son Manuel Vaz Jr. of Hilmar, her brothers Frank Gomes and Edward Gomes (Mary) all of El Nido along with her sister Jorgelina Pereira (Joe) of Ontario, California.
Idoina was preceded in death by her spouse Manuel and her parents Francisco and Candida Gomes.
Idoina was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Turlock, California and a member of Casa dos Açores in Hilmar. Idoina also helped with many of the festas at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hilmar and was very involved in her community.
A Visitation for Idoina will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service, 286 West Main, Turlock, CA 95380.
A Rosary and Funeral Mass will occur Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 2602 South Walnut Road, Turlock, CA 95380.
Idoina will be laid to rest at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 North Soderquist Road, Turlock, CA 95380.
Serving as pallbearers are Eddie Gomes, Brandon Xavier, Seth Xavier, Bradley Xavier, Manuel Silva and Brandon Stavrianoudakis.
