He is preceded in death by his parents Manuel Luis da Silva and Maria Nunes, his wife Leontina Silva in 1998, daughter Leonesa Dinis in 2015, son Paulo Silva 1986, a grandson Mark Azevedo in 1998, 2 brothers Manuel and Alexander, 2 sisters Rosa and Maria.
Joe is survived by daughter Mary Azevedo (Tony) of Hilmar; daughter Lassalete Ponceano (John) of Turlock; daughter Guiomar Azevedo (Lisuarte) of Othello Washington, son Joe Silva (Maria Fatima) of Turlock, son Arthur Silva (Rhonda) of Oakdale and son-in-law Roger Dinis of Hilmar; sister Adelaide Silva of Modesto, sister Zulmira Silva of Sao Jorge. He also leave behind his grandchildren, Melissa Meneses, Melanie Picanco, Suzy Moules, Ashley Azevedo, Paula Cuevas, Monica Twomey, Michael Silva, Ben Azevedo, Sam Azevedo, Patrick Azevedo, Mariah Rocha, Brayden Silva and Audrie Silva; great grandchildren, Hudson Meneses, Jaxson Meneses, Avery Meneses, Levi Moules, Isaac Moules, Victoria Moules and Emery Rocha. He also leaves behind brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces.
He was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church.
A visitation for Joe will be held Thursday, April 22, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service, 286 West Main, Turlock, CA. A Recitation of Holy Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 23, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 2602 S. Walnut Road, Turlock, California followed by a committal service at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 North Soderquist Road, Turlock, CA 95380.
Serving as pallbearers are Joe Silva, Art Silva, John Ponceano, Tony Azevedo, Lisuarte Azevedo, Roger Dinis, Michael Silva, Ben Azevedo, Sam Azevedo, Patrick Azevedo and Brayden Silva.
