Born May, 2, 1945 in São Jorge, Azores, Lucy carried with her the strength, warmth, and pride of her Portuguese roots throughout her life. She was a woman whose love for family guided everything she did, and whose presence brought comfort, laughter, and strength to those around her.
Lucy shared 58 beautiful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Joseph Leonard. Together they built a life centered on love, family, loyalty, and perseverance, a bond that stood as an example to all who knew them.
Lucy is lovingly remembered by her husband, Joseph Leonard; her daughter, Ana Leiter, and son-in-law, Robert, of San Jose; her beloved grandchildren, Amanda Freeman and Luci Freeman; and her treasured great-grandson, Noah Malagon; and the many family members and friends who loved her dearly.
To her family, Lucy was the heart and foundation of everything. Though small in stature, she possessed incredible strength, determination, and spirit. She was known for speaking her mind honestly, loving fiercely, and caring deeply for the people around her. Beneath her strong exterior was a truly generous heart.
Lucy found happiness in tending to her garden, caring for animals, and spending time with the people she loved most. She especially loved playful moments with her godson, whether wrestling, tickling, or making him laugh, memories that will remain close to the hearts of those who witnessed the joy they shared.
Lucy’s legacy is one of resilience, devotion, and unwavering love for her family. She will be deeply missed in the quiet moments, remembered in the stories shared around the table, and carried forward in the traditions and love she passed down to those who knew her best.
