Margaret was born on August 31, 1935, in Gilroy California. At the age of 17, she eloped with her high school sweetheart, John Herrera. Together, they shared 59 years of marriage and raised seven children. After John’s retirement, they settled in Turlock, California, where Margaret lived for the last 39 years. A devoted wife and mother, Margaret instilled in her family the values of kindness, resilience, and the importance of togetherness. As a grandmother and great-grandmother, she continued to nurture her family with boundless love and care.
Margaret had a deep passion for flowers and could often be found tending to her garden or creating stunning floral arrangements. She also had a love for reading and was known to immerse herself in multiple books at once. Margaret will always be remembered for her impeccable sense of style, her eye for decorating, and her ability to make every occasion special.
Her family was the center of her world. Margaret had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel cherished and valued. Her legacy will live on through the memories of her generosity, warmth, and unconditional love.
Margaret is survived by her children: Loretta (Tom) Amezquita, Marcia (Antonio) Rivera, Sandra (Ricardo) Rivera, Robert (Michelle) Herrera, Paula (Michael) Silvas, John Herrera; daughter-in-law Marlene Jenest (Michael); as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband John Herrera; son Michael Herrera; parents Jose and Remedios Ordaz; and siblings Dolores Reynoso, Anna Cortes, Mary Cardenas, Sarah Aceves, Serafin Ordaz, Samuel Ordaz, and Daniel Ordaz.
Friends and family are invited to a Blessing of the Ashes ceremony on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 12:00pm at Turlock Memorial Park. A celebration of life will follow at El Rosal Mexican Restaurant, 503 N. Golden State Blvd., in Turlock.
Margaret’s love and kindness will be profoundly missed but forever remembered. May she rest peacefully surrounded by God’s eternal garden.
