Maria Adelaide Barros

Maria Adelaide Barros, age 90, peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock, California. She was born in Santo Antão, Topo, Açores, to Adelaide and Manuel Brasil, and spent her life as a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and an active member of her community.

Maria was a woman of profound faith, and her devotion to God and her family shaped everything she did. She was deeply involved in the local festas, where she generously volunteered her time to create prizes for the bazar and donated her beautifully handmade creations. As a talented seamstress, Maria's creativity and dedication were always evident. She had a quiet, simple nature, but her actions spoke volumes about her love for those around her.

Above all, Maria's family meant the world to her. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, John Machado Barros, and a loving mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she cherished the time spent with them, always eager to lend a hand and offer support. Her legacy of love and care will forever be remembered by her two sons, David Barros of Turlock, California, and John Barros, married to Jenny of Ripon, California. She is also survived by her beloved granddaughter, Brooke Barros, and grandson, Austin Barros.

Maria was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Turlock, California, and a member of Our Lady of Fatima Turlock, Our Lady of Miracles Catholic Church in Gustine, and Our Lady of Lourdes in Turlock. Her faith was central to her life, and she found great joy in her church community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Machado Barros; her parents, Manuel G. Brasil and Adelaide Brasil; and her siblings, Manuel G. Brasil Jr. and Fernanda M. Brasil.

A recitation of the rosary and funeral mass for Maria will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1200 Lyons Ave, Turlock, CA 95380. A committal service will follow at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 N Soderquist Rd, Turlock, CA 95380.

Serving as pallbearers are David Barros, John Barros, Austin Barros, Luis Leonardes, Pedro Ricardo, and Carlos Ramos.

Maria's quiet strength, her unwavering faith, and her love for her family will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she gave so generously in this life.

A Senhora Barros deixa de luto seus dois filhos: David Barros, de Turlock, Califórnia, e John Barros, casado com Jenny, de Ripon, Califórnia. Também deixa a sua neta, Brooke Barros, e o neto, Austin Barros.

Ela foi paroquiana da Igreja Católica Sacred Heart em Turlock, além de ser membro da Nossa Senhora de Fátima em Turlock, Nossa Senhora dos Milagres em Gustine e Nossa Senhora do Monte Carmelo em Turlock.

Ela foi precedida na morte pelo seu marido, John Machado Barros; pelos seus pais, Manuel G. Brasil e Adelaide Brasil; e pelos seus irmãos, Manuel G. Brasil Jr. e Fernanda M. Brasil.

A recitação do terço e a missa terão lugar na quinta-feira, 13 de fevereiro de 2025, às 10:00, da manhã, na Igreja Católica Sacred Heart, 1200 Lyons Ave, Turlock, CA 95380. Seguindo-se o sepultamento no Turlock Memorial Park, 575 N Soderquist Rd, Turlock, CA 95380.
