Olinda C. de Oliveira

Olinda C. Pires de Oliveira, 84, wife of the late Luiz B. de Oliveira “Entered into Rest” on Monday, May 20, 2013 at her home in Turlock, California. She was born in Beira Velas, São Jorge, Azores and at the age of 28, moved to Angola and lived there for 19 years before immigrating to Turlock where she lived for 37 years. Mrs. de Oliveira is survived by: Two Sons – Luis de Oliveira and his wife Lucilia of Turlock, Paul Oliveira and his wife Emilia of Acampo; Six Daughters – Olinda Oliveira of Turlock, Fatima Valenzuela and her husband Carlos of Modesto, Goretty Oliveira and her husband Manuel of Hilmar, Elizete Machado and her husband Tony of Turlock, Dulce Homen and her husband Frank of Merced and Connie Slusser and her husband Bret of Turlock; Grandchildren – Cristina, Milena and Austin, Eric and Ashley, Marcio, Christopher, Karina and Hector, Noah, Nadia, Amanda, Ryan, Joseph, Megan, Taylor, Anthony, Cassie, Frankie, Cody and Shania; Great Grandchildren – Lorelai, Logan, Amelia and Madison; Brother – Manuel Pires of São Jorge, Azores; Sister – Zulemira Pires da Rosa of São Jorge, Azores. She also has Godchildren, Nephews, Nieces, Brother-in-Laws and Sister-in-Laws in California and the Azores. Preceded in death by: her Son – Zezinho Oliveira, Parents – Jose and Ana Bernarda Pires, Brother Jose Antonio Pires and Sister Maria Pires Machado.

She was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church of Turlock.

Services:

Visitation – Monday, May 27, 2013 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Whitehurst, Norton and Dias Funeral Chapel, 286 W. Main St., Turlock, California. Combined Rosary & Funeral Mass – Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 2602 S. Walnut Rd., Turlock, CA

Internment – following the Funeral Mass at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the “Portuguese Education Foundation of Central California” P.O. Box 2839, Turlock, California 95381.
