

TUSCALOOSA – Alice Caples Patrick of Tuscaloosa, Ala., passed on June 13, 2026, at the age of 100, born June 19, 1925. She went to sleep peacefully at Hospice of West Alabama, surrounded by family. Alice was a former resident of The Landings of Northport, Ala.
A private family Celebration of Life will be Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Keith Pugh officiating. Burial will be in Memory Hill Gardens.
Mrs. Patrick was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Patrick, February 26, 2008; sister, Bobbie Caples Champion of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and parents, Thomas “Lee” Caples and Maggie Harrison Caples.
She is survived by her sons, William “Bill” E. Patrick (Brenda) of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Robert “Bob” D. Patrick of Munford, Ala.; daughter, Jana “Jan” Patrick Logan (Jerry) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; daughter-in-law, Susan Somers (Dan) of Eclectic, Ala.; brother Thomas "Tom" Caples (Linda) of St. Peters, Mo.; grandchildren, Sloan Harrison Patrick (Mandy) of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Kimberly “Kim” Patrick Dojonovic (Mike) of Chelsea, Ala., Teri Patrick Hicks (Scott) of Wetumka, Ala., Riley Patrick Logan (Amy) of Rogers, Ark., and Ryan Daniel Logan of Calera, Ala.; great-grandchildren, Alison Dojonovic, Mary Kendyl Dojonovic, Bentley Dojonovic, Anna Beth Hicks, Addison Hicks, Harrison Patrick, Maggie Patrick, Killian Riley Logan, and Roma Ivy Logan; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Alice was a wonderful, loving, and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, Grandmama Patrick, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many. She was happy doing for others, making phone calls, visits, cooking, baking cakes, cookies, and treats to share with family and friends. Alice was at her typewriter almost every day when her health was good. She was sending letters, notes, and cards to family and friends.
Alice was such a talented seamstress most of her life. She made clothing for the family, prom dresses, suits, costumes for grandchildren and great-grandchildren, alterations, pillowcases, and so much more. While she was at Pine Valley, she made over 750 dresses designed for four-year-old little girls in Uganda, Africa.
Alice was a member of First Baptist since 1987. She had been a Four Year Old Sunday School teacher at Southside Baptist, Unity Baptist, and First Baptist with over 40 years of teaching. Alice was active in her Sunday School class, then worship services at Pine Valley and The Landings. Alice enjoyed Triple L Ministry and would sew in the Pillowcase Ministry.
After high school, Alice attended the University of Alabama for two years. This was during World War II, and young men that enlisted in the Army Air Corps were sent to the University of Alabama for extensive training in the Air Cadet Program. Alice met her future husband, William “Bill” Patrick, from Sciotville, Ohio, on campus. It was “love at first sight.” Bill and Alice were married January 25, 1945. They were married for 63 years.
Alice worked many places from 1945 until her retirement at age 63. She retired from First Federal Savings & Loan/Alabama Federal. She was an FHA/VA loan officer and collections officer. She returned back to full time work as an office manager for TWR/Steven Rumsey until 1988.
Honorary pallbearers are Carolyn Blackmon “Ms. Alice’s wonderful caregiver” and all of her family, Tiffany Williams CRNP, First Baptist Church staff and church family and friends, Alice’s Mission Dresses Ministry, Martha Ministry at First Baptist Church, Pine Valley staff and friends, The Landings of Northport staff and friends, Unity Baptist Church friends and neighbors, Elaine Appleby, Roy and Nona Crowder, Randy and Mimi Allen, Jerry and Brenda Carpenter, Woody and Pat Kibbey, Ronnie and Brenda Ballard, Hal and Martha Thurmond, Dianne Bentley, Gay Oswalt, Jan’s classmates of 1974 from West End Christian, former Four Year Old Sunday School class members and their parents, Debbie Dawson, and Yvette Phillips.
