Annette Averett

Services will be held Tuesday, July 29 at 11 am at Memory Chapel with Pastor John Vaughn officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Berlie Averett, her parents A. M. & Alma Lee Fair and siblings: Gene Fair, Dick Fair, Alice Simonetti & Alva Mae Graves.

Annette is survived by her four children: Cynthia Williamson (Ed), Dennis Averett (Carolyn), Teresa Weeks, and Buddy Averett (Heather).

Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Ginny Ballard (Charles), Kim Allen, Kristy Williamson, Shane Averett, Selena Case (Jared), Josh Jones, Britney Karr (Caleb), Brennan Averett, Logan Averett (Kalli), Reagan Huey (Tyler), and Dawson Albright (Leah), along with 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Annette graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School and was a charter member of First Wesleyan Church.

Annette embraced life with enthusiasm, working part-time in the nursery at Valley View Baptist, where she was affectionately known as Grandma Nette, until the onset of Covid. For many years, she showcased her skills as a talented tailor at Wiesel Co., but her most cherished role was that of a mother, raising her family and grandchildren alongside her husband, Berlie.

She was truly committed to living life to the fullest, engaging actively with the Valley View Baptist and First Wesleyan Senior Adult groups, Camp Bluebird, and HeART: Healing with the Arts at DCH. Additionally, she achieved the honor of being the 4th alternate in the Ms.

Moundville Health & Rehabilitation Pageant 2025. Remarkably, she preserved her independence all the way until her 95th birthday.

Her grandsons are honored to serve as pallbearers: Josh Jones, Brennan Averett, Logan Averett, Caleb Wyatt, Dawson Albright, and Cole Ferguson.

Honorary Pallbearers are David Murray & family, Dennis Stokes, Anna Freeman, SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice, and Moundville Health & Rehabilitation.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
