Arthur Terrell Stanley

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 11 2025 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Arthur is preceded in death by his parents, Newt Mack Stanley and Lottie Hyche Stanley; brothers, Melvin Stanley, Roy Stanley, Clifford Stanley; sisters, Octavia Stanley Jones, Delores Stanley Conors, Gertrude Stanley Sanders, Hazel Stanley Short; daughter, Sandra Stanley Waldrop.

He is survived by his daughter, Terra Stanley Silva (Gerardo); sons, Steven Terrell Stanley (Laura), Sonny Charles Stanley (Mary Ann), Arthur Jordan Stanley (Kinsey); grandchildren, Sandi Stanley, Kacie Stanley, Bradford Stanley, Amy Stanley, Teo Silva, Owen Stanley, Keightley Stanley, Corrie Mae Stanley, Shepherd Stanley.

Mr. Stanley began working at the age of eighteen with the Caterpillar tractor dealership in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where he was employed for fourteen years. He later joined the Taylor Coal Company, contributing his skills and leadership there for approximately eight years. In 1977, Mr. Stanley established his own coal mining company, which he operated successfully until his retirement in 1994.

Mr. Stanley was respected for his steadfast dedication, strong work ethic, and entrepreneurial spirit. His keen problem-solving abilities and determination enabled him to excel throughout his career and to build a prosperous business from the ground up. He was a member of Big Hurricane Baptist Church and the Tuscaloosa Elks Lodge. Mr. Stanley was devoted to his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
