Barbara Marie Hauser, age 86, passed away May 18, 2019, at her home at Pine Valley Retirement Home. She was predeceased in death by her husband, George Thomas Hauser, and her parents, John Joseph and Jemma Guerra Barone.
Survivors include her daughter Karen H Mears (Steven) of Tennessee, her son George Thomas Hauser, Jr. (Becci) of Alabama, her sister Marjory Gutknecht of Florida, three granddaughters, Morgan Grace Mears, Alexandria Leigh House (Warner) and Catherine Grace Hauser, along with her nephew Scott Andrews (Karen) of Georgia and Jodi Dibble (John) of Florida.
Barbara was born in Orange New Jersey on May 29, 1933. She married George on May 3, 1958 and they moved to Arlington Heights IL. After a few years, they moved to Nashville, Tennessee where they lived in the same house for 57 years. Barbara attended UT Nashville and graduated with a Masters Degree in Social Work. She worked at the VA in Nashville Tennessee and was awarded the 1990 Hands and Heart Award for her compassionate attitude and unselfish service to hospitalized veterans.
Barbara had a thirst for knowledge, as a student, book lover and participating in events such as the theatre, plays at the park, and festivals. As a Humanitarian, she was always volunteering with such groups like HOPE and SAGA, always giving to those in need. With this, Barbara made time to travel, not just in the States, but around the world with her favorite being Africa. Barbara was a wonderful event planner and hostess to friends and family.
Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend and will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Meals on Wheels, 1101 Kermit Dr., Nashville, TN 37217.
