He was preceded in death by his daughter, Maci Faulkner, and his mother, Melba Faulkner.
Barry is survived by his spouse, Cheryl Faulkner of Northport, Alabama and his daughters, Chelsea Faulkner and Chasidy Rice (Jarrod). His sister, Donna Pate; brother, David Faulkner, and his father, John Faulkner (Polly), grandchildren; Jace and Joelle Rice.
Every aspect of Barry’s life was devoted to serving his Lord and Savior and serving others. He had immense joy in helping people and his love for life was so evident in all that he did. Barry spent every moment of his life supporting his family and his friends no matter how sick he became. He never lost his faith or questioned God during his trials. Barry was a strong, spiritual leader for his family and led by example. He was a devoted, hardworking man who never quit until the job was finished. He enjoyed spending time working on projects in his basement. He had the knowledge to build and fix everything and did so selflessly. He found joy in taking his family to the lake, spending hours on the beach, being the best “Pop” to Jace and JoJo, camping, and off-roading back in the day. He found a love for motorcycles after being diagnosed and went on countless trips, beating every odd the doctors put against him. He was given the nickname “Motorcycle Man” by UAB because of his strength to live life despite his difficult battle with pancreatic cancer. When the doctors gave Barry 9 months to live in August of 2020, his faith and determination never wavered. He continued to live life to the fullest and still remained the glue that held the family together. He fought courageously every second of his 43 month cancer journey until his very last breath. Barry was completely at peace with the plan God had for him and constantly reassured his family by saying “I’m alright, don’t you worry about me, I am going to heaven.” Barry’s love for the Lord always shined so bright and the impact he had on everyone around him was truly amazing and unforgettable. Our family finds peace in knowing that his baby girl, Maci welcomed him into heaven with open arms. What a joyous reunion that was! Barry will be greatly missed by his family and friends but we rejoice in knowing that his fight has finally been won. Barry, Dad, Pop— we love you infinitely and can’t wait until the day we see you again!
