Bernice Miles Harper was born to Elmer and Reomah Miles on March 13, 1927 in Hale County, Alabama. Bernice Miles met Albert Harper in Hale County where they were joined into marriage on October 22, 1944.
Bernice Harper confessed her faith at a very early age. She joined St. Luke Church in Havana, Alabama. Her family later moved to Taylorville, Alabama where she later joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev S.V. Mosley.
Bernice was a very active member in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was very active in ministry and served as an Usher, the Matrons, as well as assisted with the Red Circle. She was passionate about working with children and worked for several years with the Girl Scouts. Bernice and her husband served with the Girl and Boy Scouts sponsoring multiple trips and activities for youth.
Bernice departed this life on Saturday, September 7, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Harper as well as eight of her sisters and two brothers. Bernice leaves behind to cherish her memory her God daughter, Kimberly Prince Purvis (Wilbur), two sisters, Gladys Miles McVay and Clara Miles Gray. In addition she leaves a granddaughter, Christina Prince as well as grandsons, Austin Travis Owens and Destin Purvis. Lastly she leaves her beloved dog Paris and a host of nieces and nephews.
Burial will follow in Cedar Oak Memorial Park
