My heart is so heavy as I type this to you Mama Bernice, We met so long ago in 1991 as you hugged me so tightly coming in the door of your screen porch. You said " Shelton baby I heard so much about you. I wanted to meet and thank you for being there for my baby". I told you then we look after one another; "and that's just how it should be baby." you said. I knew from that day, that first embrace that we would become family forever and we did. You left and imprint on my life from all our long conversations weather it was by phone or in person. I love and will always cherish what we had and what
we meant to one another. I always told you there's nothing I wouldn't do for you, you would say "I know baby and you know I would do the same for you and Kim . I would give y'all my last dollar (then you would do a little laugh )and say "and I've done that too.. given yall my last dollar". (you we would start laughing all over again.) Lord, I will miss your laugh and smile..
Big Mama you have no more worries, no more pains you can just rest and walk around heaven with dad Albert all day.
REST IN PEACE, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN !!

Love your other baby (Son)

I have lots of fun memories of time that Bernice and I spent together. One of the many things that I liked about her was whenever you asked how she was doing, her response would always be “I’m doing very well”. That being said no matter what kind of day I was having, hearing her say that changed everything. I will miss my visits and conversations. -Gone But Not Forgotten!-

To have met
Big mama was and still a blessing to me to meet someone with the willpower that she had was amazing to me and encourage me to keep moving and that all is possible if you believe something that will never leave me is hearing her say( come on Bernice) she spoke to her body to line up with her mind. I'm telling you the only thing I regret is not knowing her prior to meeting her .but I trust that I meet her when I was supposed to.. Love you Big mama. Until we meet again!

My Big Mama and I share a relationship that is one of life's miracles. We are so blessed to have had each other. She took care of me when I couldn't care for myself and I was blessed to care for her when she couldn't. There is nothing greater than LOVE and I thank God for her long life & love.

One of my favorite memories was to show her how to take selfies and use social media. In this photo we were taking a selfie/ussie. :-)
