Betty Jane Colburn

Betty Jane Colburn, age 83, of Tuscaloosa, died January 23, 2013, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Colburn; her parents, Ervin Buck and Annie Laura Buck; her sisters, Helen Sanders and Carol Shelton; and her son-in-law, Terry Davis.

She is survived by her children, Danny Colburn (Jane), Janet Davis Whitley (Bob), Terry Colburn (Glenda), and Sherry Snyder (Bobby); her sisters, Kate Leroy (Bobby) and Shirley Levy; her brother, Charles "Buddy" Buck (Teresa); her sisters-in-law, Barbara Kizziah and Mae Colburn; her grandchildren, Kristie Branton (Chris), Tracie Vail (Jimmy), Bill Davis (Marla), Jodie Patterson (Mark), David Snyder (Andrea), Ben Snyder (Mary Frances), Mark Snyder, Terry Glenn Colburn (Kelly), Judson Colburn (Brenda), Jessica Colburn, and Ashley Colburn; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was born in Tuscaloosa on June 25, 1929, and spent most of her adult life living in the Holt community where she was a longtime active member of Holt Baptist Church. She loved watching Alabama football and spending time with family and friends.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Bill Davis, Terry Glenn Colburn, Judson Colburn, David Snyder, Ben Snyder, and Mark Snyder.

Honorary pallbearers are members of Holt Baptist Church, residents and staff of Hamrick Highlands Assisted Living, Dr. William E. Alldredge and staff, Dr. Pedro Lopez, Dr. Bradley Bilton, and good friend Joanne Jackson.
