

Betty was born on April 26, 1928 to parents, Bert Latham Chambers and Elizabeth Lane Hixon Chambers. On December 27th, 1946 she married William Charles Jackson, Jr. (Bill). Betty and Bill then moved to Tuscaloosa to begin their life together. They owned and operated University Cleaners for over sixty years, where they worked side by side. Betty was an amazing wife, mother, and friend.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of seventy-two years; her parents; her brother Bert Latham Chambers, Jr.; and her daughter-in-law Kim Green Jackson.
Survivors include her children, Lane Sims, Patricia Bowman (Randy), and William Charles Jackson III; grandchildren Neely Hixon Sims (Damon Ray), Katherine Lane Bowman, Mary Meigs Jackson, and William Reid Jackson; and great-grandson Louis Ray.
The family expresses their appreciation to Dr. John Miller and Dr. John Summerford, to the caregivers at Heritage Health Care, and to the wonderful nurses in TSICU at DCH, especially Sharon McClusky, RN. Special thanks to loving friends Joyce Blackburn and David Vail.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 9th, 2021at 10:00 a.m. at Memory Hill Gardens, with Rev. Michael Bailey officiating.
It is the request of the family to wear a mask, socially distance and dress comfortably as we celebrate the life of a beautiful person.
