Betty Perry Latner

She was born July 30, 1929, to Tully J. and Minnieola Fikes Perry and lived in Coaling, AL. She attended Brookwood High School where she was a cheerleader and Miss Tuscaloosa County. After her children started school, she worked at Wiesel’s Clothing Company until her cousin Marilyn Foster asked her to work at Duckworth Morris Insurance Company. She retired from Duckworth Morris after 30 + years. She enjoyed quilting, going to ballgames, working in the yard, and family gatherings. She was an extraordinary mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Tully and Minnieola Fikes Perry, brothers, Earl Perry, Homer Perry, Sr., and sister Joyce Hancock, and husband, Bart Latner, Sr. Survivors include her daughter Pam Maxwell (Philip), Rev. Bart Latner, Jr. (Carol), and grandchildren, Melissa Cox (Danny), Jenifer Maxwell Cox, Jeff Maxwell (Brandy), Heather Gooden (Tim), Bart Latner III. Great-grandchildren Mary Catherine Cox, Danny Cox III (Trey), Brooke Cox, Jackson Maxwell, Jeff Maxwell, Jr., Timothy Gooden, Emily Faith Gooden, Charis Latner Ferguson, Susanna Latner, Braeden Latner, Conner Latner, Judah Latner, and Isaac Latner, and Great-Great Grandchild Kai Ferguson. Extended Family Homer Perry, Perry Hancock, Diane Thomas, Randy Perry, Jim Hancock, Jimmy Tibbs, and Marilyn Foster, and special friends Floyd Jones, and Thomas Whitt.

Pall Bearers will be Philip Maxwell, Danny Cox, Jr., Jeff Maxwell, Danny Cox III (Trey), Jack Maxwell, Jeff Maxwell, Jr.

Honorary Pallbearers Tim Gooden, and the attending nurses from Hospice of West Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama, Gideons International, Friends of First Baptist Church, or Gilgal Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 10 from 10:00 – 11:00 am with a private graveside service to follow at Coaling Community Cemetery.
