Betty Sue Oswalt Upchurch, age 85, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama passed away on October 30, 2026. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 5, 2026 at Union Christian Church Cemetery with Ken Lee officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm at Memory Chapel Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 4, 2026.
Betty Sue Oswalt Upchurch is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Upchurch; parents, Carlie and Lucille Hallman Oswalt; daughter, Julie Upchurch; sisters, Faye Hatcher Renforth and Sheila Price; brother, Charles Oswalt.
She was survived by her daughter, Joyce Upchurch Phillips (Phil); son, Frank Upchurch (Jayne); brother, Paul Oswalt (Virginia); grandchildren, Paige Price (Jeremy), Riley Griffin (Thomas), Mary Morgan Miller (Jim), Terry Upchurch, Alden McShan (Ty), Caroline Upchurch; great grandchildren, Eli Kennedy, Garison Price, Harvey Kennedy, Ann Ellis Price, Lincoln Kennedy, Lee Griffin, Millie Jayne Pearson, Griff Griffin, Emmy Miller, Christopher Pearson, Wells Miller, John Martin McShan, Phillips McShan, Beau Miller; numerous nieces and nephews; special caregiver, Ernestine Johnson.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Price, Thomas Griffin, Jim Miller, Ty McShan, Terry Upchurch and Tommy Upchurch.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Brian Wilhite and the staff of Heritage Health and Rehab.
