Betty Whitehead, age 81, of Tuscaloosa, went to be with her Savior on October 22, 2015. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, October 25, 2015 at Memory Hill Gardens with Scott Peters officiating and Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilma and Raymond Maxwell; two sisters, Margaret Ann and Lucy Maxwell; and brother, Buddy Maxwell.Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Galen Whitehead; daughter, Susan Mathews (Bill); sons, Del Whitehead (Liz) and Max Whitehead (Karol); sister, Mary Lindsey; brother, Pete Maxwell; four grandchildren, Paige Mathews, Austin and Matthew Whitehead and Valerie Ulrich and her three children, Preslie, Juliette and John Luke.The family would like to give a special thanks to Alabama Hospice Care of Tuscaloosa and special caregivers, Liz Whitehead and Cassandra Todd.In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully declines the gift of flowers and suggests that memorial donations may be directed to DCH Breast Cancer Foundation or the charity of one's choice.
