Billy was a lifelong resident of Northport, Alabama. After graduating from Tuscaloosa County High in 1974, he began his career as a welder. He spent the majority of his career in the fab shop at McAbee Construction. He later transitioned to roles in the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 372, ultimately retiring in 2019 as Business Manager.
