

TUSCALOOSA – Canner DG "Jack" Savage, age 89, died September 18, 2016. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Memory Chapel with Rev. Emmett Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service with Memory Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Jack was born June 15, 1927 in Fayette, Ala. The Lord called him home on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at the DCH Regional Medical Center after a prolong illness. He was preceded in death by his parents; Dewey and Gertrude Savage of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; four brothers; Thomas Tuskey, Dillard Franklin, Damon Eugene, and Owen "Skeeter" Amoril; four sisters, Aroma Dean Wilkerson, Johnnie "Criket" Covington, Junell Hesler and Bobbie Allen; one daughter; Janice Gale Savage; and two daughters-in-law, Donna Savage and Maxine Savage. He was survived by his loving wife, Mildred E. (Miles) Savage three sons; Donald Ray Savage Naperville, Ill., Larry Wayne Savage (Jean) of Yorkville, Ill. and Michael Wade Savage (Liza) of Englewood, FL.; one brother; Paul Savage (Marilyn) of Shreveport, La.; one sister, Cleatta Ruth Wyatt of Chattooga, Tenn., eight grandchildren, ten great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. After Jack and Mildred married, they moved to Ill. in the 1950's. He began roofing at Glossop Roofing in Aurora, Ill. where he worked for 15 years. He then established his own business, Savage Roofing Company. His business was successful and he accomplished many of his life's dreams, including and involving his sons in the roofing business. He loved his sons more than anything in the world. After he retired in 1991, he moved back to Tuscaloosa and began attending The First United Pentecostal Church. He was a loving and loyal husband and was loved by many. A special thanks to his sons for their loving support along with an extra special thanks to his niece (like daughter), Shirley Broadhead (Danny) and great-niece, Sandi Lee (Jon) and granddaughter, Jacqueline Smith (Emmett) for their loving and caring support through his time of need. Pallbearers will be Chris Savage, Jon Lee, Randy Kuntz, Mathew Savage, Noah Savage and Charles Cook.
