Carlton "Shorty" Young

Carlton ""Shorty"" Young, age 76, of Centreville, died October 31, 2016, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2016, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Ron Martin, Al Finch and David Deter officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be today, November 3, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucille Young and brothers, Joe, Albert, Dan, Henry and Frank Young. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Young of Centreville, Ala.; daughter, Glenda Kinard (Joey) of Brent, Ala.; son, Morgan Young (Lori) of Vandiver, Ala.; sisters, Myrtie Davis, Nell Duncan and Sally Carroll, all of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; brothers, Leroy Young of Oakman, Ala. and Kenneth Young of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and grandchildren, Joshua Kinard of Brent, Ala., Bethany Kinard of Memphis, Tenn., Carla Kinard of Florence, Ala. and Zoey, Jaci and Levi Young, all of Vandiver, Ala. Shorty never met a stranger and all who knew him loved him dearly. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.Pallbearers will be Joshua Kinard, Joey Kinard, Paul Cox, Donald Boyd, Kevin Young and Doug Kizziah. Honorary pallbearers are Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Geer, Joe Geer, Marcell Smalley, Southern Care / New Beacon Hospice and AmServ Ambulance Services of Bibb County. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Southern Care / New Beacon Hospice or a charity of your choice.
