As a young child, Cathy enjoyed spending time at a family member's river house with her cousins. She enjoyed talking about those days. After attending Holt High School, Cathy married and had three children. To help support her family, she got a job in the coal mines at Jim Walters #4, where she worked for close to 20 years. Cathy was considered a " tough woman" as she traveled on a small cage over a mile underground to darkness and emerged covered in coal dust. This career supported her family, but later left her body worn and lungs tired. She was later diagnosed with black lung.
Cathy's proudest days were being a "mimi" to her three grandchildren that she loved dearly. After retirement, Cathy loved to have family gatherings where she would cook. Everyone loved Mother's southern cooking! She spent her last living years planting flowers, gardening, and loving on her fur babies, Levi and Stella.
Cathy's wishes were to be cremated. At some point, plans are to spread her ashes at the beach. It was her favorite place!
