

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020, at 10:00 AM from Liberty Baptist Church with Graveside services immediately following at 11:00 AM from the Church Cemetery, with Bro. Kenny Overstreet officiating. Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Provider, is honored to be entrusted with final arrangements.
Mr. Colburn was born November 23, 1935, to the late Tom and Emmie Hubbard Colburn. A native and lifelong resident of the Tuscaloosa area, he retired from Gulf States Paper and then later retired as a Deputy with the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Department. He served on the Mitchell Water Board and as longtime Chief of the Hagler Volunteer Fire Department. A Baptist by faith, he was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Colburn loved people and never met a stranger, he was a wonderful family man and enjoyed his time being “Grandaddy’ and “Paw Paw” to his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lucille Colburn, brothers: Buddy Colburn, Edward Colburn, William Colburn, and JR Colburn, and one sister Leola Farley.
He is survived by his daughter Wanda Thompson and sons Jimmy (Sonya) Colburn, Kenneth (Melinda) Colburn, Robert (Peggy) Colburn, Thomas (Beth) Colburn, one sister Oneida Allen; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Serving as Active Pallbearers will be: John Thompson, Timothy Thompson, Elijah Colburn, Josh Colburn, Wahoo House, Ryan Colburn, Bert House, and Greg Lawrence. Recognized as Honorary Pallbearers will be the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Department.
