Charles Douglas Turner, age 79, of Northport, Alabama passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 2 pm at Rosedale Baptist Church with Bro. Jimmy Garner officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 pm on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Rosedale Baptist Church.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, CB and Clarice Turner; grandparents, Susie and Manuel F. Moore, Tom and Zora Mae Turner.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Elizabeth Tidmore Turner; sons, John Douglas Turner (Tina) and Michael Wayne Turner (Julia); brother in law, Ferrell Tidmore (Sandra); grandchildren, Landon Turner, John Caleb Turner (Anna Katherine), Brady Turner, Riley Turner and Ady Beth Turner; great grandchild, Tate Turner.
Doug graduated from Holt High School and later worked at Pepsi for several years before joining the force at Northport Police Department. There he served as a patrolmen and Homicide Investigator. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police and Bama Carry. He was an avid hunter and loved to shoot guns, fish and sing. He also helped as part of the Security Team at Rosedale Baptist in his later years. On June 8, 1963 Doug married Judy and they were married almost 60 years. Doug spent the last 15 years of his life getting closer to God. He passed away surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Josh Bell, Michael Thompson, Ferrell Tidmore, Dee Tunnell, Todd Fields and Brett Liverman. Honorary pallbearers are Rosedale Baptist Church, Northport Police Dept., Pepsi, Bama Carry, Tuscaloosa County Homicide Divisions, Alfred Rice, Lang Lary, Charlene Hopson, and Wayne Murphy.
