He was born on July 16, 1937, in Birmingham Alabama as the second son of Winfield and Lula Mae Watts.
He is preceded in death by both his parents and his brother, John Watts.
He is survived by his two daughters, Laura Fletcher and Sherry Burruss (David), grandchildren, Sage Hickman (John Taylor), Bill David Plott (Dana), Liza Fletcher and Hunter Plott, and four great grandchildren.
He was known by his family as Papa and his friends as Tommy. He attended Westend High School in Birmingham. Playing Industrial League baseball with boys older than himself led him to a contract with the New York Yankees. Tommy opted to first attend Auburn University on a baseball scholarship where he was awarded an All American. He resided in Tuscaloosa working in the Insurance Business retiring from Crafton and Company. Tommy enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf.
A private service will be held for the family. Dr. Johnny Waits, Chuck Caldwell, Mike Cranmore, Bob Kilgore, Buck Smith, Gary Franklin, Jack Humphries, and Jim Deas will serve as honorary pallbearers.
