Dorothy (Dot) Savage Davis, 96, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park, Tuscaloosa, beginning at 11:30 a.m., with Rev. Larry Corder officiating. Heritage Chapel Funeral Home will be directing.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Rev. Herbert Davis; her son, Randy Davis; grandson, Jason Davis; parents, General Alonzo Savage and Leoma Savage Boggan; brothers, Charles Savage, Phelan Savage, and Donald Savage.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay Black (Larry); daughter-in-law, Marie Davis; grandchildren, Leslie Corlett (Stephen), Steven Davis, Scot Black (Wendy); great grandchildren, Tyler Corlett, Lucas Corlett, Campbell Corlett, Braxton Black, Brody Black, Pamela Davis, and Elijah Davis. sister, Katie Ann Stokes; sisters-in-law, Rollie Savage, Marie Savage, Sylvia Savage, and Nancy Davis.
Mrs. Davis graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School and graduated from Tuscaloosa Business College. Out of college, she went to work for the Gulf States Paper Corporation in Tuscaloosa as a legal secretary. She worked at Vanity Fair Mills in Jackson, Alabama, and as a secretary for the Tuscaloosa Baptist Association Office in Tuscaloosa.
She served her Lord at the side of her husband in several churches in the State of Alabama and in Tennessee. Churches in the Tuscaloosa Baptist Association included Flat Woods Baptist Church, New Hope Baptist Church, and Yellow Creek Baptist Church until he retired in 2001 from the ministry. She was a member of the Alberta Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa.
Pallbearers will be Larry Black, Scot Black, Stephen Corlett, Steven Davis, Larry Davis, and Mike Davis.
