Edith "Edee" Miller Newman, age 74, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, passed away on August 4, 2019. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Memory Hill Gardens with David W. Phillips officiating and Memory Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Friday, August 9, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Fletcher and Emily Miller; husband, Roger Newman; brother, Benjamin Miller; and niece, Heather Hardin.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Newman-Erickson (Beth); sisters, Carla Miller and Emily M. Miller; brother, Fletcher Miller; grandchildren, Andrew Chase Newman.
Edith "Edee" was a beloved sibling, wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She was born in Sweetwater, Alabama and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She graduated from Holt High School, class of 1963, and attended the University of Alabama Nursing School from 1963-1965. After spending time in Mobile, Alabama, Decatur, Alabama and Dallas, Texas, she returned to Tuscaloosa to be with family and continue her career. Edith worked at the Tuscaloosa Teachers Credit Union, which is now Riverfall Credit Union, for over 40 years. She was greatly valued and was promoted to various positions throughout her career, culminating to become the Vice President of Operations. In her personal life, nothing meant more to Edee than her family. The time she spent with her siblings, cousins, and nieces and nephews was priceless to her.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Chase Newman, John W Hardin, Christian Miller, Benjamin Miller, Jamin Miller, Jason Baugh, Chrystal Hocutt, Candy Brunet and Casey Fitzgerald.
Honorary pallbearers are St. Vincent's Hospital-East, 5th floor MICU, Red Hatters, Staff of Riverfall Credit Union, Alumni of Holt High School year 1963 and other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Edee's name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or the American Heart Association.
