

Elaine Morrison Perkins, age 89, of Tuscaloosa, died June 28, 2016, at Hospice of West Alabama. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2016, at Memory Hill Gardens with Dax Lancaster and Matt Strickland officiating and Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.She was preceded in death by her parents Ed J. and Ila Mae Morrison; husband, David Paul Perkins; daughter, Linda Ann Crook; sister, Louise M. Mathews; and great-grandson, Richard Cole Clements.She was survived by her son, Steven Paul Perkins (Debbie) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; grandchildren, Ashley Ann Clements (David) of Northport, Ala. and Haley Perkins Strickland (Matt) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and great-grandchildren, Perkins and Ali Beth Strickland and William, Christian and Lyla Clements.Elaine was born July 16, 1926 in Hale County, Alabama. She was married for over 40 years to Paul Perkins. She was a homemaker and had two children of her own but was referred to as ""Momma Perk"" by the many children she kept in her home over the years. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and was thrilled to attend several games in person. Even though her body became disabled over the last few years, her mind remained sharp and she had an impeccable memory. She could recall names, dates, events, etc. better than anyone. She never met a stranger and it seemed like she knew everyone… and if she didn't know you, she would find a connection if you talked to her long enough.Pallbearers will be Andy Bramlett, Randy Brown, Billy Davis, Doug Lee, Randy Perkins and Jimmy Woods.Honorary pallbearers are long-time friend Mary Woods, Dr. Debra Davis and Onita Kilpatrick.Condolences may be offered at www.memorychapelfuneralhome.com.
