TUSCALOOSA - Elizabeth Blaylock Hollingsworth (known as Dr. Betty) died peacefully at home on February 13, 2018. A memorial service for her will be held in her honor on Saturday, February 17th, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home, 5200 Old Birmingham Hwy., Tuscaloosa, AL 35404, with Rev. Mary Ann Wilson officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memory Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Dr. Hollingsworth was predeceased by her parents, Arden Pleasant Blaylock and Irene Queen and her sister, Billie Tanner (James), all of Little Rock, Arkansas. She is survived by her brother, Dr. John Joseph Blaylock of Honolulu, Hawaii; her eldest son, Dr. James Henry Hollingsworth III (Dorothy) of Johnstown, Pa.; and younger son, Arden Norris Hollingsworth (Madelene) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Dr. Betty was a practicing pathologist in Tuscaloosa for over 25 years. She will be remembered for her participation in many medical mission trips to Honduras and other Central and South American countries, her dry wit and innumerable ways in which she affected the lives of others. Her family wishes to thank Amedysis Home Health Care, Dr. Nancy Tactuk, and all the staff at Crimson Internal Medicine and many others for the care given to her in the in the final years of her life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Woodland Forest Baptist Church, 6701 Hargrove Road East, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405.

God made Dr. Betty and then broke the mold. Truly, She was " One of a kind". I have never met anyone more dedicated to helping people who could not help themselves. She has been an inspiration to me for many years. She will be sorely missed by so many. God Bless.
