

TUSCALOOSA – Elmira Ingram Glenn, age 92, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., died March 5, 2017, at Hunter Creek Health and Rehabilitation. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2017, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Penny Ford officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Marvin Glenn; parents, Dock Edward Ingram and Lola Nichols Ingram; and brothers, W. J., Morris, Jack, Durward and Nickie Ingram.Survivors include her two daughters, Rebecca Glenn Yeargan of Memphis, Tenn. and Sheila Glenn Madison (Phillip) of Northport; son, Edward M. Glenn (Linda) of Birmingham; five grandchildren, Karen Barbieri (Mark), Glenn Yeargan (Tammy), Laura Steele (Parker), Anderson Glenn (Leigh) and Lindsay Madison; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Myra was born on a farm in Shelby County in Wilsonville, Ala. on August 14, 1924. She graduated from Vincent High School in Shelby County. She moved to Tuscaloosa in 1943 after her marriage to H. Marvin Glenn. She was a dedicated member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over seventy years. She served her church in many different ways, as a teacher of Sunday School, seamstress of choir robes, as back-up for church secretary and as secretary of United Methodist Women for many years. For several years, she worked outside the home as secretary/bookkeeper for the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education. Myra was a loving wife, nurturing mother, excellent seamstress, baker, cook and a capable business woman. She was a sweet and totally giving person. She loved her family and served God in her daily life. She adored all babies and children and doted on those in her family. She will be missed greatly but will be happily reunited with her beloved husband. We will treasure and miss both. The family would like to express heartfelt and sincere appreciation to all her doctors, nurses and special caregivers. Pallbearers will be Anderson Glenn, Parker Steele, Mark Barbieri, Glenn Yeargan, Francis Glenn, Ronald Ingram and Donald Ingram. Honorary pallbearers are members of Trinity United Methodist Church, Pine Valley Retirement Community, Hunter Creek Health and Rehabilitation, Dr. Ross Vaughn, Jenna Cooper, CRNP, the caregivers at Pine Valley and Hunter Creek, Amedysis Home Health and Home Instead Senior Care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 729 Paul Bryant Drive, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401 or a charity of your choice.
