

Emma Parker, age 100, passed away surrounded by her loving family at DCH Regional Medical Center on May 21, 2024. Born in Bibb County on May 31, 1923, to Robert Franklin Hubbard and Mae Smith Hubbard, Emma was the eldest of nine siblings. Her father had 7 older children and all those half siblings have also passed away. She is survived by her youngest brother, Johnny Hubbard (Martha) and youngest sister Patsy Creel, while her other siblings, Oneida Tucker, Ed Hubbard, Ella Crews, Charles Hubbard, Nelson Hubbard, and Joanne Hoggle preceded her in death.
In 1938 the beautiful young lady, married a handsome young man, Jerome Parker. Their union lasted for nearly 55 years until Jerome's passing. Together, they raised seven children: Faye Phillips(Joel), Bobbie Parker, Gracie Hoggle (Billy), Jerome Parker Jr. (Harriet), Dwight Parker (Martha), Sybil Watson(Rick), and Richard Parker. Although Bobbie and Jerome Jr. and son in laws Joel Phillips, and Rick Watson. have passed on, their memory lived on in Emma's heart. Maw Maw, as she was known by so many, is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Emma's life was characterized by her love for gardening. She spent countless hours tending to her vegetable garden, preserving its bounty through canning and freezing, and then delighting in preparing meals for her family and guests. As long as she was able, lunch was on the table for anyone who happened to show up. Her renowned vegetable soup, cornbread, and fried apple pies were cherished by all who tasted them.
Beyond her garden, Emma's home was surrounded with vibrant flowers. She loved to walk visitors around and show off the blooms. She took pride in sharing her floral treasures with anyone eager to cultivate their own garden.
Emma's passion for shopping, especially for bargains, was well-known. She had a knack for finding high-quality items at unbeatable prices, which she saved for special occasions, a testament to her frugality honed through years of hardship.
Family was Emma's greatest joy, and she especially cherished every moment spent caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her home was always open, filled with laughter, love, and invaluable life lessons.
Emma Parker touched countless lives with her kindness and generosity, leaving behind a legacy of love that will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons, Michael Hoggle, Hayden Hoggle, Parker Hoggle, Daniel Hoggle, Ken Phillips and Scott Parker.
