

Ernest D. House, age 93, of Tuscaloosa, died Sept. 26, 2010, at Moundville Nursing Home. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Curtis Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine House; his daughter, Judith Holst House; his parents, Ernest A. House and Pearl Jackson House; and his brother, Lamar House.
Survivors include his son, Gerald J. House of Tuscaloosa; his grandchildren, Tim House (Nikki) of Tuscaloosa, Debbie Hayes (Dennis) of Tuscaloosa, and Matthew Holst of Virginia Beach, Va.; and his great-grandchildren, Warner House, Jackson House, Camden House, Deacon House, and Samantha Hayes, all of Tuscaloosa, and Christine Holst of Texas.
He was born Oct. 9, 1916, in Clay County, Ala., but lived most of his life in Tuscaloosa. He retired from BF Goodrich in 1976. "Don" was a true friend to many. He loved his family and was generous and helpful to them throughout his life. He was a member of Taylorville Baptist Church and a Mason for over 50 years.
Honorary pallbearers are friends and neighbors of Walnut Drive, Von Bayer Masonic Lodge members, employees of Moundville Nursing Home, and very special friend of the family Vicki Carroll.
