Estelle Marie Rodriguez Weir was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she lived for 38 years, before moving to Houston, Texas and later settled in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where she lived the rest of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William J. Rodriguez, Sr. and Blanche Boudreaux Rodriguez; sisters, Leonie Rodriguez, Rita Blanche Rodriguez, Rosemary R. Bel; brother, William J. Rodriguez, Jr.; daughters Elizabeth Davidson and Jude LeePard; son-in-law Joseph Edward Stuckey; grandson, Austin LeePard.
She is survived by children Nancy Stuckey, Peggy Bradford, Bob Weir (Donna), Christine Williamson (Allen), and Ann F. Smith (Michael); sons in law Hal Davidson and Geoffrey LeePard; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; great-great-nieces; great-great-nephews; cousins; and dear friends.
One of Estelle’s first jobs was in 1942, for an advertising agency in New Orleans, where she worked for 8 years. After her marriage to Robert W. Weir, she was busy raising their 7 children. Estelle worked for the College of Engineering at the University of Alabama for many years before retiring.
A mother of 7, grandmother of 11 and great grandmother of 24, Estelle’s life was full. She loved spending time with her family, was an active member of her church, loved the Atlanta Braves and was an enthusiastic fan at her grandchildren’s softball games. She also loved to read and do crossword puzzles. She was known for the beautiful Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls she made, donating them for the annual church bazaars at Holy Spirit. She was loved beyond measure by her family and friends and she will be sorely missed.
Pallbearers are Bob Weir, Kristy Traweek, Amanda Koby, Hal Davidson, Allen Williamson, Kris Bradford, and Randy Arnold.
Honorary Pallbearers are her children, spouses of her children, 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Holy Spirit School, or Hospice of West Alabama.
Visitation will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Tuscaloosa on Saturday, December 3, 2022, from 10-11AM, followed with a funeral mass at 11AM, and burial at Memory Hill Gardens – Cross Garden, 2200 Skyland Blvd East, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405.
