Frank K. Baity passed away on June 5, 2026 at the age of 82. Born on May 28, 1944, he was a resident of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Betty Baity; daughter Natalie; and brother Hugh.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Irene Baity; step-son Mike Bagwell; brother David Baity (Nancy); and several nieces and nephews.
Frank grew up in west Texas. He joined the army and served his country in Vietnam. He later flew helicopters in civilian life and helped evacuate the U.S. embassy in Vietnam when the war ended. Frank's career was mostly connected with the aviation industry and this carried him all over the world.
Frank's passion was building and flying radio controlled model airplanes and helicopters. He was president of the West Alabama Aero Modelers Club and was involved with all aspects of the club. Frank could take an airplane engine apart and put it back together or build a model airplane from scratch. However, he could not operate a microwave oven or a washing machine.
A special thanks goes to his caregivers, Juanita and Krystal, as they were with him all through his illness. Also special thanks to caregivers Bruce, Tish, and Jordan. Their care will never be forgotten.
Frank will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Keep flying, Frank.
