Frieda Suzanne Mitchell age 60 of Northport, AL passed away Thursday April 2, 2020 at Hospice of West Alabama. A private family graveside service will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday April 5, 2020 at Memory Hill Gardens with Minister Dusty Jones officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, A Dignity Memorial Provider directing.
She is preceded in death by her father, Moody Friedman Mitchell, her mother Gladys Gwendolene Howell Mitchell, Grandparents, Victor Friedman and Estelle Reynolds Mitchell; George R. and Mabel Howell Dalton.
She is survived by her brother Edward Dent Mitchell of Maputo, Mozambique, Africa.
Frieda was born and raised in Northport, Tuscaloosa County Alabama. She was a 1978 graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School where she was a member of the school band. She continued her studies at the University of Alabama and UAB finishing with a degree in respiratory therapy.
After Frieda’s 25 year career in healthcare, she continued her passion for giving to others by volunteering with Five Points Baptist Church’ Women’s Missionary Union (WMU) on projects including Operation Christmas Child (OCC) and a church-wide cookbook fundraiser to benefit OCH. She was an active member of the Mary and Martha’s Sunday School Class, WMU and BALL Club (Be Active Live Longer).
She will be remembered by her Brother, Edward and his wife Elaine, Nieces Emma Estelle Grey ( husband Hayden) and Sarah Elizabeth Spragg (husband Chris), Nephews Will Mitchell (wife Sarah), Robert Mitchell (wife Emily) and Hugh Mitchell; Great nephew Ethan Grey and Great niece Amelia Grey. And numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Honorary pallbearers: Ricky Williams, Billie Ann Wallace, Sharron Rodenberry, Debra Hill, and The Mary and Martha Sunday School Class of Five Points Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Hospice of West Alabama and WMU of Five Points Baptist Church, Northport, Alabama.
