Gary Lynn House

Gary Lynn House, age 66, of Duncanville, Ala., died September 17, 2015, at UAB Hospital. Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2015, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Hallman officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be two hours prior to service at the funeral home.He was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Jean House.Survivors include his wife, Darien Pearson House of Duncanville, Ala.; sons, Gary Jr. (Jan), Patrick (Maria), Justin (Crystal), and Daniel (fiancée, Olivia Loper); sister, Brenda Rogers (Jerry); and grandchildren, Alayna, Lakely, Larry, Newt and Justin, Jr.Gary graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School in 1967. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1967, serving in the Vietnam War with 1st Marine Division – 7th Battalion. He was wounded and received a Purple Heart. He served as a police officer for the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Department, Fayette Police Department and then worked for the United States Postal Service in Tuscaloosa. He was also an avid marksman and hunter.Pallbearers will be Jerry Rogers, Gabe Rogers, Andrew Rogers, Wilford Calhoun, Jamey Pearson and Steve Jarman.Honorary pallbearers are members of Duncanville Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa Post Office, friends of Duncanville Community, Dr. Stephen Browne, Dr. Ariel Anguiano, Jr., Dr. Heather Simpson, Doctors and Nurses at Medical ICU at UAB Hospital and Carroll's Creek Baptist Church.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Duncanville Baptist Church, Gideons International and Sav-A-Life.
