TUSCALOOSA – Geneva Ruth Garmon House, age 84, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., passed away peacefully September 7, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at Memory Chapel with Rev. Curtis Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. House; father, Willis A. Garmon; mother, Flora M. Garmon; sister, Bracie Springfield; brothers, Theron Garmon and Warren Garmon.
Survivors include her sons, Phillip House and Paul House; sisters, Lois Kilpatrick, Martha Garmon and Cynthia Harper; brothers, Claudell Garmon, Elmo Garmon and Ron Garmon; and grandchildren, Cody House, Morgan House and Parker House.
Mrs. House came to Tuscaloosa in 1969 with her husband, John L. House. They were wed on January 12, 1960 and were married for 57 years when he passed. She was a faithful member of Taylorville Baptist Church and was a long-time Sunday school and vacation Bible school teacher as well as a homemaker. She was a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother who would never let you go without. She always had an encouraging word, a shoulder to lean on, or a hot meal for anyone in need. Her biscuits and fried apple pies were legendary.
