Harlen Eugene Sanders

Harlen Eugene Sanders, age 90, of Prattville, Ala., formerly of Tuscaloosa, passed away Monday, July 22, 2013. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Herbert Davis and Pastor Larry Corder officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Friday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ridout's Prattville Chapel in Prattville, Ala. The family will receive friends two hours prior to services at Heritage Chapel.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Helen L. Sanders; his parents, Charlie and Vertis Sanders; a brother, Hawk Sanders; and a sister, Margaret Sanders.

Survivors include his daughter, Linda Sanders Gallman, sister, Mary S. Grant (Haley); brother, Harold Lee Sanders; brother-in-law, Buddy Buck (Teresa); sisters-in-law, Shirley Levy and Kate LeRoy (Bobby); two grandchildren, U.S. Army Capt. Jeremy L. Gallman (Amber), Emily M. Gallman; many nieces, nephews, and friends; and his little dog, Lucy.

He loved his family, dearly, as well as his church family. Harlen was a member of Alberta Baptist Church for over 75 years. He worked at Gulf States Paper Corporation and Elk Roofing. He enjoyed gardening, being in the country and outdoors, and was a big fan of both Alabama Football and the Atlanta Braves. He was also a WW II veteran.

Honorary pallbearers are members of Alberta Baptist Church, employees of Gulf States Paper Corps. And Elk Roofing, and new friends he made while living in Prattville.
