
Harold E. Snider, age 79, of Cottondale, formerly of Boaz, died July 1, 2010, at Forest Manor Nursing Home. Services will be 11 a.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Lovett and Rev. Frank Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Thelma Snider; and brothers, Jack L. Snider and Troy Ray Snider.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jessie Snider; daughters, Marquita Morgan (Brett) and Patti Slaton (Richard); and grandchildren, Merideth (Will) Thaxton and Casey Slaton, both of Northport and Lesley Peters (Andy) of Atlanta, Ga.; and great-grandchildren, Anne Elizabeth, Martha Thaxton, John Morgan and Vada Peters.
Harold was a long time member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Boaz. He graduated from Albertville High School in 1949 and later attended the American Banking Institute. Following graduation from high school, he married Jessie Traylor. He worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance for six years then began a 44-year banking career at the First Bank of Boaz under the leadership of Mr. Hogan Jackson and Mr. D.K. Searcy. Harold had a great love for the city of Boaz and the many friends he and Jessie made over the years.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Traylor, Kenny Harbison, Kerry Ben Harbison, Kelvin Harbison, Paul David Kennamen, Tommy Stewart and John Snider.
Honorary pallbearers are employees of First Bank of Boaz and deacons of First Baptist Church in Boaz.
The family would like to give special thanks to caregivers, Corean Britton, Demetrius Curry, Sandra Lawson, Mattie Mayhew and employees of Forest Manor Nursing Home Station 3.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Caring Days, Hospice of West Alabama, Alzheimer's Association or Calvary Baptist Church-Centennial Fund.
