Dear Beth,  My prayers are with you in the loss of your mom, a wonderful, gentle Christian woman.  I recall so many wonderful days spent in your home when we were "best friends" in junior high and how your mom always made me feel welcome and special.  I know you will find comfort in these days ahead beause of the deep faith and love of God that she had and instilled in you and all those her life touched.

There was a painting in the hall there at La Rocca that gave me comfort each time I passed by it on the days I visited Onnie.  It was of a little girl alone in a forest.  A mighty angel was in the background of the painting, unseen by the little girl she was watching over.  When I had to leave, it reminded me that Onnie was attended to by more than friends and family and her loving caretakers there at La Rocca.

She was a saint from a bygone era.  The last of her many siblings.  Her father died when she was nine.  Her memory of things long ago was vivid until very late in her life.  In her later years, on several occasions she told me with tears in her eyes of her little sister, nicknamed Dolly, who died of whooping cough, the family powerless to help.    Yet growing up, I had no hint that such tragedy had ever touched her sweet life.  She was from the country but somehow genteel.  If you ever were ill and fortunate enough to be under her care, you know she was a healer.  Many of the best prepared meals I ever ate were at her house in Alberta City.  Few people exemplified humility as she did.  

I have sometimes imagined the contrast between her frail body and the power of prayer she must have commanded in the heavenly realm:  a soft spoken lady confined to a wheelchair whose supplications to God Almighty led to daily bread and deliverance from evil for children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren in far away places.  What will we do without her prayers?

Thank you to all the people from La Rocca who took care of her for so many years.  Thank you to all who looked over her in her last days after the storm.

To the family of Mrs. Wurm,
We had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Wurm at LaRocca the day after the tornado hit as we spent time with her getting her ready for her special school bus ride to the nursing home she was moved to. We tried to make her feel comfortable and at ease thru her transition that day. She was a very sweet lady and we are very sorry for your loss.

Dear Beth and Gary, I am so sorry to hear of your Mom's death although we all know where she is and that she is enjoying her eternal life now in the presence of her Lord. Your mom was such a dear.
