

James Amory Ashcraft, known affectionately as "Jimmy," passed away on November 20, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on February 14, 1954, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Jimmy was the eldest of three children to Remus Price Ashcraft and Sara Ann Wright Ashcraft. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, Teresa Ashcraft.
Jimmy is survived by his beloved spouse, Denise Langford Ashcraft of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He leaves behind his children: Amy Ashcraft Lockhart (Chris), Candace Cline Boles (TK), Brooklynn Ashcraft Sievering (Zack), Chris Ashcraft (Lisa), and Carson Cline (Jennifer). He is also survived by his sister, Gena Ashcraft Frith (Chuck), and his brother, Terry Price Ashcraft. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Austin (Madison), Andrew, Makenzie, Crimsyn, Corbin, Cooper, Meadow, Jacob, and Madilynn, as well as his great-grandson, JT.
Jimmy's career spanned 51 years at Phifer Wire, later Phifer, Inc., where he was known for his dedication and humor, often recounting the story of having to request time off to attend his high school graduation. In 1978, he became a father, a role he cherished deeply. In 1997, he married Denise Langford, a childhood friend, and together they enjoyed a life filled with family and adventure, including riding their Harley and spending time with their grandchildren.
Jimmy was an avid fisherman and later found joy in "wind therapy" on his Harley. His family and friends, including honorary pallbearers Dr. Clint McEntyre, Dr. Anne Lewis, Dr. Raymond Poore, and his colleagues at Phifer, Inc., will remember him fondly.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be announced at a later date. Jimmy's family will miss everything about him, especially his warm hugs.
