James “Buddy” Beard, age 73, of Cottondale. Ala., died May 2, 2017, in Jefferson County. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Enterprise Cemetery with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Beard; son, Monk Beard (Sheila); and grandson, Buddy Coal Beard.
Survivors include his son, Bud Beard of Calera; daughter Jo Ann “Sweetie” Baker (Johnny); grandchildren, Bo Beard (MJ), JJ Beard (Brittney), Tanya Beard, Jerrace “Cajon” Baker, Heather Beard and Jerrett “Red” Baker; and a great friend that was just like a brother, Eddie Morgan.
Buddy was a coal miner and heavy equipment operator.
The family will serve as pallbearers.
