TUSCALOOSA James M. (Jim) Brown of Tuscaloosa died March 20, 2011, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Graveside with Rev. Tim Fields officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by Samuel M. Brown and Ada Darden Votaw.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Anne Morrison Brown of Tuscaloosa; his sons, Jason Brown of Vestavia Hills and Patrick Brown of Cullman; his sister, Margaret Simmons; special brother, Byron Thornhill, Jr.; his brother-in-law, Ike Morrison (Lynn); and his grandchildren, Foster Brown, Grace Brown, Meredith Brown, and Nicholas Brown.

Mr. Brown served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from AT&T, Shelton State Community College, and Phifer Wire.

Pallbearers will be Mike Aaron, Roy Bain, Ronnie Cameron, George Chism, Jimmy Chism, Jerry Evans, Joel King, and Wes King.

Honorary pallbearers are friends and neighbors of South Ridge, former coworkers of South Central Bell and AT&T, and Phifer Wire Telecommunication Department coworkers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of West Alabama or one's favorite charity.
