James Steven "Steve" Cook

Arrangements under the directioJames Steven Cook, age 53, of Coaling, died April 2, 2011, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Evergreen Baptist Church with Bro. Jack Clary and Bro. Ronnie Blake officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Hill- Mt. Carmel Cemetery in West Blocton with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home and Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. The family requests casual dress for the funeral.

He is preceded in death by his father, Mr. Buddy Cook.

Survivors include his wife, Kareen Whatley Cook of Coaling; his son, Casey (Chandler) Thrasher of Coaling; his stepdaughter, Kelley Latham; his mother, Mrs. Peggy Cook of Coaling; his sister, Sonya Cook of Coaling; and his grandchildren, Miss Melana Colvin (Papa's “Little Bit”), age two, and newborn Bricken Thrasher.

Pallbearers will be Casey Thrasher, Chuck Reed, Chad Junkins, Mitch Junkins, Bradley Junkins, and Jerry Cook.

Honorary pallbearers include Frank Whatley, Ronnie Blake, Chad Reed, and Billy Brothers Sub-Station Hunting Club.
