

James Richard “Dick” Martin, Sr., 75, passed away on December 21, 2021 at DCH in Tuscaloosa. A Visitation will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 from 1:00-2:00pm at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. A Graveside Funeral Service, with Military Honors, will follow at 2:00pm from Memory Hill Gardens, Veteran’s Garden. Funeral services will be officiated by Bro. Reed Eaves and under the direction of Memory Chapel, a Dignity Memorial provider.
Mr. Martin was born August 26, 1946 in Missouri, to the late Earnest H. and Mary E. Martin. He served his country while enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He obtained the rank or Corporal and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan during Vietnam. He returned home and worked for many years as a Truck Driver, a career that he truly enjoyed. He was a loving family man, a Jokester and known “Aggravator,” he was stubborn and relished in being “always right!” He took pride in his appearance, as he was always impeccably groomed and ‘well put-together.’ He loved his family dearly, loved trucks, Alabama Football, and was especially fond of his dogs, Sarge and Gunny.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Fred Wendt. He is survived by his wife Linda Bragg Martin; daughter Heather (Richard) Caldwell; son James R. Martin, Jr.; step-children Rhonda Eaves and Brent (Darla) Bragg; grandchildren: Caleb Caldwell, Reed (Chelsea) Eaves, Ryan (Julisa) Eaves, Rachel Eaves, and Olivia Bragg; great-grandchildren Avery Eaves and Davis Eaves; sisters Terri (Roger) Glass, Alice Martin Wendt, Tammy (Mike) Martin Thomas; brothers John (Denise) Martin and Jerry Martin; special niece Rylynn Pinter and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
