James "Jimmy" E. Jacobs

James E. "Jimmy" Jacobs, age 81, of Northport, died October 29, 2010, at home. Services will be 2p.m. Monday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Jim Hinton officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, A Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Audie Jacobs; a sister, Mary Moorehead; and a brother, Johnny Jacobs.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Patsy Jacobs; a son, Dennis Jacobs; a daughter, Regina McCann (Wes); a granddaughter, Georgia Twarog; a step-son, Donnie Simpson (Jann); step-daughters, Patricia Cook and Michelle Clark; seven grandchildren; a special granddaughter, Nikki Poe; five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-laws, Betty Jacobs, Doris Hardy, Carolyn Junkin, and Linda Hammack (Don); a brother-in-law, Mike Hunter; a niece, Deidre Criswell; and a nephew, Danny Moorehead.

James E. "Jimmy" Jacobs departed this earth on October 29, 2010, at home after a long illness to be with his Heavenly Father. He was 81 years old.

James, also know as "J.J.", was born on October 5, 1929, in McShan, Ala. to Andrew and Audie Jacobs. He loved his country and retired from the Army after four tours. He was a Korean War veteran and served 21 years in the Army with the rank of Staff Sgt. He retired from B.F. Goodrich and Wackenhut Security at DCH Regional Medical Center.

James was a loving husband and father, and will be deeply missed. He was a born-again Christian and a member of Five Points Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Roy Nelson, Ronnie Hodo, Rick Poe, James "Bo" Buys, Jody Swindle, and Buddy Hawthorne.

Honorary Pallbearers are doctors and staff of DCH and Hospice of West Alabama, Dr. Wesley Spruill and Pain Care Center staff, B.F. Goodrich, Wackenhut, friends of his neighborhood, church members and staff of Five Points Baptist Church.
