

James Everett Ledbetter, 93, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, passed away on March 15, 2026. Born October 14, 1932, in Pickens County, Alabama, James lived a life marked by steadfast faith, devoted service, and quiet, admirable strength.
Jim worked at Partlow State School and Hospital for more than 30 years, serving as a warehouse supervisor with dependable leadership and care. He also served on the Board of the Alabama Mental Health Credit Union for more than 35 years, offering consistent guidance and commitment over decades of service.
A member of Calvary Baptist Church for 63 years, Jim joined the church on March 19, 1963, and remained deeply involved throughout his life. He was a lifetime deacon, served faithfully in the adult choir for more than 60 years, and participated in church building mission trips. He also served as a general officer for Sunday School, always willing to support the work of the church in whatever way was needed.
Jim most enjoyed spending time with family, and he especially cherished camping trips shared with family and friends—simple moments that became lasting memories.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor C. Ledbetter; his father, Harry Richard Ledbetter; his mother, Nellie Brown; and his step father, Price Brown.
He is survived by his daughter, Marla Junkin (Kirk); sons, David T. Ledbetter (Kerrie) and Mark E. Ledbetter; grandchildren, Hannah Kate Belgard (Nathan), Rylie Ledbetter, Baylie Ledbetter, and Reid Ledbetter; and great-granddaughter, Clara Belgard.
Visitation will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 1121 Paul W Bryant Dr, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401, on March 19, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at Calvary Baptist Church on March 19, 2026, beginning at 2:30 pm with Rev. Joseph Robinson officiating. A Committal Service will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Tuscaloosa, AL 35401, on March 19, 2026.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Kirk Junkin, Mr. David Ledbetter, Mr. Mark Ledbetter, Mr. Nathan Belgard, Mr. Miles Ridgway, Mr. Kent Gidley, Mr. Ken Horst, Mr. Mark Cook, and Mr. Holt Jordan.
Honorary pallbearers are Mr. Jim Phillips, Dr. George Nunn, Dr. Ross Vaughn, Mr. Ferman Burkhalter, Mr. Therman Burkhalter, the staff of Hospice of West Alabama, the nurses and caregivers of Forest Manor Health & Rehabilitation, Mrs. Terralyn Muttaki (caregiver), Mrs. Ruby Harbin (caregiver), Mrs. LaToya Jones (caregiver), Mr. Glen Hershman, and Dr. Salem David.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, Hospice of West Alabama, or a favorite charity.
